Macquarie invites you to attend our ASEAN Conference 2018 Penang Tour ·The Silicon Valley of the East· Penang is the 2nd smallest state in Malaysia but is amongst the top-6 contributors to Malaysia's GDP with a 6.6% share in 2017. Our tour begins with a meeting with the newly appointed Penang Chief Minister, Mr Chow Kon Yeow, for an overview of Penang's economy and the new government's development and growth plans to maintain Penang's attractiveness to foreign investment. We then head to Bayan Lepas, southern Penang Island, home to its international airport and its Free Industrial Zone where various multinational electronic and engineering firms have set up factories and assembly plants. We will visit Penang's Inari Amertron Bhd (INRI MK), a home-grown and now leading outsourced semi-conductor assembly and testing company (OSAT) to MNCs in the electronics and semiconductor industry, followed by a meeting with one of Inari Amertron's MNC clients, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, a unit of OSRAM Licht AG, headquartered in Munich, Germany and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Osram were one of the pioneer companies in Penang, operating since 1972. We will then cross the Second Penang Bridge to Batu Kawan Industrial Park, Penang? new industrial zone with a total size of 2,680 hectares which has attracted a host of MNCs including Bose Corporation, Bosch, Hewlett-Packard and IKEA. Batu Kawan is also ViTrox Corporation? (VITRO MK) new campus base, another home-grown technology company catering to MNCs.
